IN CHRIST'S BIRTH WE FIND MEANING - CHRISTMAS 2018

IN CHRIST'S BIRTH WE FIND MEANING - CHRISTMAS 2018

Beloved, the yuletide season is upon us once again. “Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation” (Psalm 95:1). It is a privilege to get to commemorate the birth of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ at this time each year the Father chooses to sustain us alive for His purposes. The question is, “Do we live in the reality of His expectations daily?”

Christ said that He came so we may have life and that more abundantly (John 10:10), but He also wants us to live in perpetual recognition of, and gratitude for, the heavy price He paid for us to have this privilege. Think about the power of the risen Savior and His incredible great love for us. The Bible assures us that greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13), yet it is clear that we were still sinners and opposed to the desires and purpose of God when Christ died for us (Romans 5:7,8,10). He made a point to rise from the dead and Is now seated at the right hand of the Father to where He has been highly exalted (Philippians 2:9). He Is alive so that you and I might live after being reconciled to the God of our creation! Halleluyah!

However, we should not lose sight of the significance of His birth. To be born, He had to take on humanity and even though He’s now seated in the heavenlies, He retains His identification with humanity forever. He chose not to lay it aside, hence we have the dialogue in Psalm 24 wondering about this King of glory in human form. That should excite the shame and guilt and doubt and fear right out of your system and into a state of surrender to a lifestyle and lifetime of perpetual worship (John 4:23-24). To give you a start in the right direction, I recall this song that many of us know from our youth:

Alive, Alive

My Savior Is Alive

Alive forevermore

The sting of death is gone

And now He lives

I have eternal life

Since Jesus Is alive

Chorus:

Sing halleluyah!

Sing halleluyah!

My Savior Is alive forevermore

Sing halleluyah!

Sing halleluyah!

My Savior Is alive

In conclusion, I want to share with you a great Christmas story by an unknown author titled, “Story of the Persian King.’ It goes thus: Long ago, there ruled in Persia a wise and good king. He loved his people. He wanted to know how they lived. He wanted to know about their hardships. Often he dressed in the clothes of a working man or a beggar, and went to the homes of the poor. No one whom he visited thought that he was their ruler. One time he visited a very poor man who lived in a cellar. He ate the coarse food the poor man ate. He spoke cheerful, kind words to him. Then he left. Later he visited the poor man again and disclosed his identity by saying, "I am your king!" The king thought the man would surely ask for some gift or favor, but he didn't. Instead he said, "You left your palace and your glory to visit me in this dark, dreary place. You ate the coarse food I ate. You brought gladness to my heart! To others you have given your rich gifts. To me you have given yourself!" The King of glory, the Lord Jesus Christ, gave himself to you and to me. The Bible calls Him, "the unspeakable gift!"

May your Christmas be blessed and experience Glory Ahead in the New Year!

Yours in the LORD’s Service,
